Percy Jackson and the Olympians released its second season on Disney+, with the Season 2 finale arriving on January 21. The good news is that there is a third season coming, based on The Titan’s Curse, the first story that wasn’t told in a previous movie. However, as fans wait for the third season to arrive, there are similar shows to binge-watch.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians offers up a group of children and young adults who are all demigods, which means one of their parents is a god and the other a human. They learn their place in the world at Camp Half-Blood, but when newcomer Percy Jackson learns he might be a Chosen One, it sets them on a journey of adventure.

    A Series Of Unfortunate Events

The kids in Series Of Unfortunate Events

Interestingly, the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will allow the showrunners to tell a story never seen before in a movie or TV show. Another series that got the same chance was Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Before the series, there was a Jim Carrey movie.

However, when the TV show started, fans were waiting for the series to move past the first three books, which were all adapted into the Lemony Snickett movie. This happened in the show, which moved past that point, and fans got new stories (albeit still based on the books).

A Series of Unfortunate Events is similar to Percy Jackson in that it follows three young kids who have to deal with some terrible situations. These kids don’t have magical powers like Percy and his friends, but seeing kids forced to band together and fight against overwhelming odds is the theme of both shows.

    Agatha All Along

The big thing to note about Percy Jackson and the Olympians is that it involves kids with magical powers who have to face massive obstacles. For people who love watching the show for the magic and mythology, there is a Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming series that fits that role perfectly.

Agatha All Along is the sequel to WandaVision, and while WandaVision is the better of the two MCU shows, the sequel series fits the tone of Percy Jackson and the Olympians better. WandaVision was a show about trauma and Wanda using her magic to make her life better. Agatha All Along is something very different.

The series follows Agatha Harkness after she is forced to live a fake life following her actions in WandaVision. However, the series takes a turn when she gets her memories back and sets out on a quest down the Witch’s Road. Joining her is a young man named Billy Kaplan, who just happens to be a powerful witch himself.

    Locke & Key

Locke & Key is very similar to Percy Jackson’s story because it is about regular kids who learn the hard way that they have discovered magic. While Percy learned he was a demigod and had magical powers based on water, the kids in Locke & Key move into their family’s ancestral home and learn it has magical keys they have access to.

Based on the comic book series by Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill, and artist Gabriel Rodríguez, the story features the Locke family after the murder of their father. They move into their family’s ancestral home and soon find keys that open doors to magical worlds, which the kids can then use in any way they choose.

However, there is also a demon imprisoned under the home that uses the youngest boy, Bode, to help it escape. The series had three seasons, and the story had a beginning, middle, and end, so fans don’t need to worry about starting it and then not getting a finale before it was canceled.

    Marvel’s Runaways

Agatha All Along isn’t the only Marvel series that fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians might want to stream if they want a similar story. A lesser-known series that isn’t connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released in 2017 on Hulu, and it could be a perfect binge-watch for Percy Jackson fans.

The Runaways is a series where a group of teenagers learns their parents are actually supervillains known as the Pride. When told they should join their parents, or else, they all run away and try to disappear. They soon discover that they have powers as well, similar to their parents, and are determined to fight back.

It is a lot like Percy Jackson and his friends, especially when the gods are not always willing to help their kids, and Zeus was extremely hostile to the demigods. Both shows are coming-of-age stories about teens in a world full of danger and peril. There are three seasons and 33 episodes.

    His Dark Materials

His Dark Materials is based on the novels by Philip Pullman, and while there was a movie attempt at adapting it, the HBO series based on it was better. The story is set in the multiverse, and a young girl named Lyra is part of a witches’ prophecy along with a runaway from a different world named Will Parry.

Dafne Keen (X-23 from the MCU) stars as Lyra, as she lives in a society under authoritarian rule, but when she leans, she can communicate with a companion called a daemon. She finds a doorway to another world, which is the modern Earth. She then discovers Dust, which is causing a secret society to abduct children.

There are three seasons of His Dark Materials, all of which received positive reviews and remain a fun watch. Like Percy Jackson, Lyra is a young teenager who learns she is part of something bigger, and both are prophesied to either save or destroy the world, connecting the stories perfectly.

    Shadow And Bone

Shadow and Bone is another fantasy series like Percy Jackson that is ideal for young adult fans, and both share the inherent dangers of kids getting involved in situations greater than themselves. Based on the Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, this takes place in a mythical world rather than the real one.

Alina learns she has magical powers and is a Chosen One for a prophecy that could destroy the world. This makes her the target of a young man who is a Darkling (Ben Barnes), a military leader with whom she begins to fall in love. The biggest difference from Percy Jackson is that this is a romantic fantasy, where Alina’s love could destroy the world.

Sadly, Shadow and Bone only ran for two seasons before Netflix canceled the series. However, those two seasons were great. It was a fascinating show that felt different from the other YA fantasy shows that arrive on Netflix all the time.

    Warrior Nun

Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians got to see a young man learn he was a demigod, and there was a secret world of magic all around him. He then had to figure out how to control his powers so he could save the world. Warrior Nun took this idea and applied it to the Catholic Church.

Instead of demigods and mythical beings bringing magic that remains hidden from morals, Warrior Nun had a secret group of female warriors working for the Catholic Church whose job was to stop any demons that got into this world, destroy them, and make sure it remained a hidden secret within the church.

In this series, it is a young woman named Ava (Alba Baptista) who is called in to replace a Warrior Nun who died, and has to figure things out fast before the demons that are planning a worldwide invasion get through into this world. Warrior Nun had two seasons and has promised a movie in the future to tie up any loose ends.

    Fate: The Winx Saga

The cast of Fate: The Winx Saga

Fate: The Winx Saga is a lot like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, in that it tells the story of a group of magical youngsters who enroll at Alfea to learn how to use their powers. This was not based on young adult novels, like Percy Jackson was, but was instead based on an animated series called Winx Club from the 2000s.

While Winx Club was hugely successful and ran for eight seasons and 208 episodes, the streaming series on Netflix was not as lucky. Fate: The Winx Saga only lasted for two seasons and 13 episodes, and the series faced constant complaints about changes it made from the animated version.

However, it has its fans, and the story is very familiar to Percy Jackson fans. Bloom is a fairy with fire powers who enrolls at the boarding school in the Otherworld and becomes friends and allies with other fairies, and she has to prepare for the return of evil creatures known as the Burned Ones.

    One Piece

One Piece is based on a manga series that has also been adapted into one of the most successful anime series of all time. The anime has a total of 1,155 episodes and 22 seasons. However, there is a new way for people to discover the series without feeling so far behind already, thanks to Netflix.

The live-action version of One Piece premiered in 2023, and that first season had eight episodes. The series follows the crew of a pirate ship led by a young man named Monkey D. Luffy, who was given the power of stretching thanks to Devil Fruit. His goal is to find the mythical One Piece and become King of the Pirates.

The cast of One Piece is very similar to that of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with Monkey D. Luffy similar to Percy, while Monkey’s crew matches up well with Percy’s demigod friends. The second season of One Piece premieres in March 2026, and there will be a third season as well.

    Wednesday

Wednesday shares a lot in common with Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Rick Riordan adaptation sees Percy learn he is a demigod and the son of Poseidon, so he goes to Camp Half-Blood to learn what it means to be a demigod and to train among other demigods in a structured situation.

Wednesday Addams is from the classic television series, The Addams Family, and her family sends her to school at the Nevermore Academy, which is a school for people with supernatural powers. While it isn’t demigods, it does feature everything from sirens and werewolves to psychics, like Wednesday.

The two shows also share a theme, as both Percy and Wednesday find things amiss at their school/camp, and they set out to solve the problems using their specific skill sets. Wednesday has had two seasons so far, and more is on the way.
