The official trailer for Tyler Perry‘s Boo! A Madea Halloween begins to what sounds like an eerie windup music box song. Images of trees coated in deep fog and children trick-or-treating along dimly lit streets on Halloween night appear. But the chilling tone established quickly takes a comedic detour when Madea (Tyler Perry) slaps a clown out of its box as soon as it pops up and tries to scare onlookers.

As the trailer continues, we learn that Madea has been commissioned by a family friend (also played by Tyler) to keep watch over his house and daughter Tiffany (Diamond White) while he heads out of town on business. Madea takes on the task — once she’s offered money, of course — and agrees to make sure Tiffany doesn’t sneak out to attend a nearby Halloween party. What she doesn’t realize she’s signed up for, though, is a night of complete chaos, which hilariously includes fending off ghosts, ghouls and zombies.
