Late Sunday Michael Jackson’s Twitter account posted a short video advertising a project called “Scream.” No details about the project were shared — although John Branca, co-executor of the late singer’s estate, did offer some vague hints in an interview with Variety at the Venice Film Festival on Monday, where a 3-D version of Jackson’s 1983 “Thriller” video premiered.

“Now we have ‘Thriller’ 3-D, and two more announcements are coming up in the next couple of weeks,” Branca told Variety, declining to elaborate further. “Michael had an expression: ‘The quality goes in before the name goes on.’ So we are not ready to announce them yet.”

Asked if there may be an album coming of unreleased recordings from the vaults, Branca said: “I don’t foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time.” But he added: “That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting [new] record releases in the very near future.”

According to multiple reports on Twitter as well as the site HipHop N More, posters advertising the project have appeared in Europe that read “Michael Jackson Scream: Album Out Sept. 29.” However, judging by Branca’s comments, this may be a themed compilation of some kind — and judging by the animated teaser video, which includes a black cat, spiders and other spooky images, it may have a Halloween theme.

Reps for Branca and Jackson’s longtime label Epic Records, which signed a $200 million deal with the estate in 2010 and has issued two albums of unreleased material, had not responded to Variety‘s requests for further comment at press time.
