Following an onstage combat that apparently broke up Jane’s Addiction, three of the 4 members are making new music collectively. Bassist Eric Avery, guitarist Dave Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins are recording new songs minus singer Perry Farrell.

Again in September, Jane’s Habit made headlines when Farrell bought right into a bodily altercation with Navarro throughout a present in Boston, at one level punching the guitarist onstage. As the 2 musicians had been being separated, it appeared that Avery landed a few blows on Farrell. And a later report from a crew member revealed that Farrell punched Navarro again — this time within the face — backstage shortly thereafter.

The remainder of the band’s tour was canceled, and whereas an official announcement was by no means made, Navarro recommended that the band had broken up in an Instagram publish, saying, “I’m gutted that issues ended this fashion.”

Now, Avery, Navarro, and Perkins are laying down new music collectively, with Avery posting a video of himself recording bass elements to a Perkins drum monitor, with the caption: “Writing some extra new strains to a few of Stephens drumming. Look ahead to getting some Mr Navarro on them. 2025! @stephenperkinsdrummer @davenavarro.”

Perkins shared Avery’s Instagram publish, and added, “Love that darkish swing.”

Whereas no particular plans for the music have been detailed, there’s hypothesis that Avery and Navarro is perhaps reviving their lengthy dormant aspect mission Deconstruction. The outfit featured the 2 musicians alongside drummer Michael Murphy, and solely lasted a few years. They launched one self-titled album in 1994.

The self-titled Deconstruction album was not too long ago reissued by way of streaming providers, and Avery and Navarro have every posted in regards to the mission inside the previous couple weeks. “Having revisited it in any case these years I consider this report comprises a few of my favourite recorded enjoying and interaction between E’s bass and my guitar,” wrote Navarro. “I’m very comfortable this has been rereleased and is out there for streaming.”
