    Ex-Dream Theater Drummer Mike Mangini Launches New Band Monolith

    Drummer Mike Mangini, who exited Dream Theater upon the return of that band’s authentic drummer Mike Portnoy in 2023, has launched a brand new band known as Monolith. The primary piece of music from the three-piece is the only/video “Oligarchs,” which might be streamed under.

    Mangini has stored busy since parting methods with Dream Theater, first releasing a solo album, Invisible Indicators, in November 2023. Now, he’s introducing his new band, that includes singer-bassist Hernán “Motley” Rodríguez and guitarist Andy Barrow.

    To date, Monolith have solely introduced themselves with a number of social media posts, describing the trio as “a genre-defying band that embodies the fusion of rock and metallic.”

    “Oligarchs” is certainly a wedding of rock and metallic, with Rodríguez delivering muscular vocals on high of some virtuoso enjoying by each Barrow and Mangini. The tune is accompanied by a slick music video, intertwining politically-themed narrative scenes with efficiency clips.

    Following his exit from Dream Theater after greater than a decade within the veteran prog-metal act, Mangini mentioned he understood why the band needed to reunite with Portnoy. “All I do know is the choice was made and after I heard it, all I pictured was, ‘Oh, that is an authentic man going again to his band. Uh, okay. All proper. Let’s go to the subsequent factor,’” he instructed SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk on the time.
