    Slick Rick to Release First Album Since 1999

    Slick Rick is on the brink of launch his first album since 1999. The hip-hop artist will share Victory, a follow-up to The Artwork of Storytelling, on June 13. Victory is described, in a press launch, as a visible album that Slick Rick executive-produced with Idris Elba. It’s accompanied by a 30-minute movie, directed by Black Is King collaborator Meji Alabi, that may premiere at SXSW London, on June 7, and likewise display at Tribeca Festival on June 13.     Slick Rick wrote and recorded Victory in London and France, and the movie was shot in the US, the UK, and Africa, a press launch notes. The album could have visitor appearances from Nas, Giggs, and Estelle.

    “Victory is all about perseverance, storytelling, creativeness, and evolution,” Slick Rick mentioned in an announcement. “A visible mix of artwork and coronary heart—a sonic journey that displays the place I’ve been and the place I’m going. Victory isn’t simply music—it’s a daring in your face assertion, showcasing British artistry at its best!”

    Idris Elba added, “Working with Slick Rick… again dwelling within the UK, after which providing the world of hip-hop one thing wonderful has been a blessing. It’s actually a present!”

    Examine Slick Rick’s debut, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, in Pitchfork’s “The 200 Best Albums of the 1980s.”
