“Practicing Horse Riding for Four Hours Daily Was Challenging” – Sapthami Gowda

My character is impactful in Thammudu

Sapthami plays the role of Ratna, a girl from a village Ambaragodugu. “There’s also a different love story for my character with Nithiin,” she shares. Adding, “Many feel that my look in Thammudu resembles my Kantara look, but as a character, Ratna has a different arc. Thammudu deals with a serious subject, but my character evokes laughter. What Ratna truly is can be seen only in the film.” Sapthami states that she had learnt horse riding and rode a horse in hilly and rocky terrains in Araku. She said, “Practicing horse riding for four hours daily was very challenging but I am so thrilled with the way how those scenes turned out.”

While working for Thammudu has been a great experience, Sapthami believes that the film will also earn her good name as an actress. “My role may not be lengthy, but it’s impactful. The director told me that he enjoyed writing my character Ratna, so I think that’s a great validation,” she explains. The film features five significant female characters and she describes them as different and powerful. Thammudu was the title of Pawan Kalyan’s film in 1999. It was a blockbuster, and Sapthami says she knew about it. She said, “But I haven’t watched Pawan garu’s movie completely yet. I will watch it before our film’s release.”

“I like playing different roles” – Sapthami

Post the super success of Kantara, Sapthami received many offers. But the actress states that none of the scripts excited her which is why the audiences haven’t seen her in many films. “But if different roles come my way, I’ll surely take up. I like playing different roles. Currently, I’m working on two Telugu films, apart from one each in Tamil and Kannada,” reveals Sapthami who expresses keenness to work in multiple languages.
