Dakota Fanning opens up on starring in the series All Her Fault. Sharing about the decision at a press conference, she noted what hooked her to the show. “I love that there is a mystery. I love that you knew there were going to be twists and turns. But what hooked me most was my character’s relationship with Sarah’s character. And that first scene in the bathroom, of them meeting, that was the first scene that we actually filmed. It was both of our first days. And seeing that dynamic.”
She further added, “And then my big question, because I think I read the first three or four scripts and then spoke with Megan, the showrunner, and Minkie, who directed the first four. And my first question was, I just wanted to know where their relationship was going. Because I was going to be so disappointed if it was going to go the way of a problem. Like seeing the trope of these women being at each other’s throats and a sinister vibe to their relationship eventually coming to pass.”
Dakota also noted, “And so I was really happy that their relationship that you saw was how it was going to stay throughout the series and that it was really going to build. They were going to just become more and more of a support to each other and have this very genuine friendship. And I felt like that was the more unexpected route for these two characters to go, where I think we see a lot of stories that pit women against one another. And so getting to see a genuine friendship between the two of them in the way that I know my female friendships to be, I was really excited to play that. But yeah, of course I also wanted them to tell me what was going to happen at the end, and where it was all going in terms of the mystery.”
