Farhan Akhtar tells fans why 120 Bahadur is Lakshya 2 during an interaction

With just a day left for its theatrical release, Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios’ 120 Bahadur has reached peak anticipation. During a recent live session with fans, Farhan Akhtar added to the buzz when he was asked, “When are you making Lakshya 2?” The actor-filmmaker paused, smiled and replied, “For me, 120 Bahadur is Lakshya 2.”

The upcoming war drama revisits the heroic stand of 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment during the Battle of Rezang La in the 1962 Indo-China war. Farhan plays Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, who led his men against overwhelming odds in one of India’s most storied last stands. Central to the narrative is a resolute pledge that defines the regiment’s sacrifice: “Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge.”

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday cleared the nationwide release of 120 Bahadur, dismissing a petition that sought to stall the film on grounds of alleged historical inaccuracies. The Farhan Akhtar-starrer will now hit theatres on November 21 as originally scheduled.

The plea was filed by Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha, a charitable trust, along with family members of soldiers who died in the Battle of Rezang La. The petition challenged the CBFC certification, alleging the film distorts historical facts by depicting Major Shaitan Singh as a lone protagonist under a fictionalised surname “Bhati”, thereby overshadowing the collective courage of the Ahir soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment.

Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar (Excel Entertainment) and Amit Chandrra (Trigger Happy Studios), 120 Bahadur brings together a strong creative collaboration. The film is set to release in cinemas on 21 November 2025.
