2025 has been an absolutely incredible year in gaming, with massive hits like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Battlefield 6, Hollow Knight: Silksong, ARC Raiders, and countless others. There’s no question that it’s a great time to be a video game enthusiast, and looking at the most-searched games of the year shows just how many great games released in 2025.
Recently, ScreenRant acquired a list of the most-searched video games from Google in 2025, and while all the major games you’d expect to see are there, there’s one massive surprise, which is that Clash Royale is among the top 10 most-searched games of the year.
Clash Royale is a mobile strategy game from developers at Supercell that you’ve likely never heard of unless you’re a fan of mobile gaming, but it’s one of the most popular games of the year, with millions of daily users according to Google data (via PlayerAuctions).
Google Reveals Its 10 Most-Searched Games Of 2025
Google’s most-searched games of the year come from “data [that] reflects top trending searches … over a sustained period in 2025 as compared to 2024,” and will be reflected in the Google Trends landing page. The top 10 most-searched games of the year according to this list are as follows:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Battlefield 6
- Hollow Knight: Silksong
- ARC Raiders
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Borderlands 4
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Madden NFL 26
- Clash Royale
The list highlights just how incredible the year has been for various genres in gaming, with epic RPGs, extraction shooters, a new Pokémon game, a new Madden entry, remasters of old classics, and even mobile games making the list of trending games.
Why Clash Royale Is A Surprise
While most of these games will not be very shocking for gamers considering they’re some of the most popular games to release in 2025, Clash Royale is an outlier that many gamers will not recognize, and it’s also nearly 10 years old. Mobile games tend to reach a different audience than console and PC games, and therefore often go unrecognized or overlooked, but the fact a 2016 game is in 2025’s most-searched lineup is a bit odd.
This could in part be due to the game’s constant rolling updates and additional content being released, not to mention years of garnering a dedicated player-base. Clash Royale shows just how popular mobile games can be, competing with juggernauts like Madden, ARC Raiders, and Battlefield 6 in terms of search trends.
Mobile games often get a bad rap, and sometimes aren’t taken seriously by gamers, but the mobile game audience is absolutely massive considering how ubiquitous and more accessible phones are across the globe compared to PCs, handhelds, and consoles. All told, Clash Royale might not be the first game players think of in the 2025 lineup, but it does make sense that it’s so heavily searched.
