The following contains spoilers for the Solo Leveling manhwa beyond the anime.Although Solo Leveling Season 2 proved that Sung Jinwoo’s strength doesn’t exempt him from tragedy, fans received a subtle spoiler about which character will die next in the anime. While Solo Leveling‘s anime hasn’t been officially renewed, A-1 Pictures recently released a video with a scene that left fans stunned and has sparked intrigue and questions about the characters’ fates.

As Solo Leveling Season 3‘s confirmation continues to be delayed, spoilers proliferate on social media, even from other projects within the IP. In the opening of the video game Solo Leveling: KARMA, it’s revealed that Jinwoo was deeply affected by his inability to prevent Min Byung Gyu’s death and that he also won’t be able to save another S-Rank Hunter.

A New Opening Reveals Goo Gunhee’s Death in Solo Leveling Season 3

Go Gunhee’s death in the opening sequence of Solo Leveling Karma

Solo Leveling: KARMA is an upcoming video game from Netmarble that will cover an unexplored portion of the manhwa’s ending: the 27-year war against the Monarchs. Its opening sequence was animated by none other than A-1 Pictures, the studio behind the Solo Leveling anime, inadvertently giving fans a sneak peek of Go Gunhee’s death ahead of the next season.

A former S-rank hunter and the chairman of the Korean Hunters Association, Go Gunhee has forged a relationship of mutual respect with Jinwoo. Go Gunhee admires Jinwoo’s strength, which has made him wish he were in his prime to fight alongside him; he has supported his plans and given him autonomy while also protecting him from media pressure and criticism.

Although there aren’t many clues in the opening, Sung Jinwoo is seen visibly distraught over a dying Go Gunhee. While the anime hinted at Gunhee’s health problems, the chairman is attacked by one of the monarchs in chapter 152, and Jinwoo arrives too late to prevent him from being fatally wounded, with the two characters sharing a poignant farewell.

Due to their close bond, Gunhee’s death becomes one of the most defining moments for Jinwoo before his final battle. This explains why the scene was included in the opening of Solo Leveling: KARMA despite the risk of spoilers for anime fans who aren’t caught up with the manhwa.

Solo Leveling Season 3 Will Bring Fans Many Emotional Moments

Even though, after his battle against the Ant King, Jinwoo might seem powerful enough to easily defeat any enemy, he has repeatedly failed to prevent lives from being lost at the gates. These deaths weigh heavily on Jinwoo’s mind, as evidenced in A-1 Pictures’s opening sequence with the scenes of Kim Sangshik and Min Byung Gyu.

These unfortunate deaths are just the tip of the iceberg, as there are still many chapters to adapt in Solo Leveling‘s anime. Solo Leveling Season 2 ended right with the introduction of the monarchs, foreshadowing their connection to Jinwoo’s father. There’s much more to look forward to in Jinwoo’s adventure beyond the intense battles, with heartbreaking moments that will undoubtedly move fans.
