An unrecognizable Lance Barber reunites with The Coopers in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 set image. The Big Bang Theory canon long-established his death, but impressively, Chuck Lorre and his team of writers did a great job executing George’s death in Young Sheldon. While the tragedy was somewhat expected, the way it went down still sent shockwaves to both his family and the viewers.
It has been a year and a half since Young Sheldon ended, which means that the same amount of time has passed since George died. The Big Bang Theory franchise has somewhat moved on from the incident, as the focus of its storytelling is now in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. That said, the ramifications of George’s death are still felt in the new show, and Barber is missed as the character throughout all of its run.
So, understandably, there’s excitement when Barber reunited with his on-screen family in a new set image from Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Writers on Instagram. In the photo, he is joined by Montana Jordan, Reagan Revord, and Zoe Perry, as well as Matt Hobby. Check out the photo below:
For what it’s worth, this isn’t the first time that Barber visited the set of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. After Young Sheldon was canceled, the actor joined his old co-stars for a couple of get-togethers. In a very special episode of The Big Bang Theory‘s second prequel offshoot, he even reprised his role as George through Georgie’s sickness-fueled dream.
It’s uncertain if Barber’s latest Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage set visit is an indication that he’s coming back for another cameo in season 2. The show has already established a precedent when it comes to bringing him back from the dead, so they can certainly do it again, as long as there’s a solid reason to do so. If this is indeed a clue that the Cooper family patriarch is making another cameo, hopefully, he gets to share the screen with other characters as well, such as Mary and Missy.
One drawback, however, to George’s possible second appearance is that it highlights the absurdity of Sheldon’s continued absence in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. If the show can bring back someone from the dead, it would be more difficult to justify Iain Armitage not returning to the screen since Young Sheldon ended. The actor is currently confirmed to appear in an episode of Ghosts and he maintains a good relationship with his old co-workers, so there’s really nothing stopping the spinoff to paving the way for his comeback.
