Naruto has introduced a vast array of techniques and powerful jutsu that raise the power scale to unimaginable levels. The Rasengan, Chidori, and Indra’s Arrow are some of the most well-known jutsu in Naruto, belonging to absurdly strong characters. However, one of Naruto‘s most powerful jutsu appeared in the first part of the series, and fans don’t give it the recognition it deserves.

In Naruto, the range of summoning techniques is extremely broad, encompassing everything from the simplest applications to carrying out tasks in intricate strategies. Out of these, the strongest are the Summoning Animals in Naruto, used by the legendary Sannin for the Three-Way Deadlock, later inherited by Team Seven. Sadly, most fans overlooked the potential of Naruto‘s strongest summonable animal.

Naruto Fans Haven’t Seen Katsuyu’s Full Potential Yet

The companion summon who made a contract with the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade, and her disciple, Sakura Haruno, Katsuyu is a giant slug that lives in the Shikkotsu Forest. But unlike the other animals of the legendary Sannin, neither Tsunade nor Sakura was able to harness Katsuyu’s full power.

In Naruto chapter # 650, it’s revealed that even the combination of the chakra stockpiled in Tsunade and Sakura’s byakugou seals could only summon roughly 10% of Katsuyu’s actual size. Moreover, this tenth part of Katsuyu alone was enough to cover the entire Allied Shinobi Forces. This, in addition to the versatility of its abilities, shows Katsuyu has monstrous potential in large-scale battles.

While Katsuyu doesn’t stand out for its offensive attacks, it can split itself into thousands of separate bodies, which serve both to transmit information and to heal the injured using the chakra of Tsunade and Sakura. Therefore, Katsuyu’s range of action would have increased significantly if it had had a caster with enough chakra reserve to summon its entire body, like Naruto.

Although the requirement to summon Katsuyu is the Byakugo Seal, this is possible to form for those with delicate chakra control, which Naruto mastered by the end of the Fourth Great Ninja War. Nonetheless, Naruto never showed any affinity for medical ninjutsu, meaning he cannot use Tsunade’s Creation Rebirth and would not take advantage of Katsuyu’s healing ability.

Furthermore, the Uzumaki clan was known for its expertise in sealing jutsu, and it’s been hinted that Mito Uzumaki, Hashirama Senju’s wife, also had a Byakugo seal, having a similar shape on her forehead. Still, it would have been interesting for Naruto to make a contract with another summoning animal, just as Sasuke could summon hawks and snakes.

On the other hand, Himawari Uzumaki might have the qualities to have Katsuyu as her personal summon. Himawari not only has an enormous chakra pool as the new jinchuriki of Kurama, but she has also shown an exceptional healing ability. Still, there is a chance Sarada Uchiha may be the next to master the Byakugo Seal like her mother, Sakura.

However, both Sarada and Himawari could learn to summon Katsuyu. Having a ninja with the potential to wield Katsuyu’s power in Boruto could be a decisive factor in ensuring the Hidden Leaf Village’s survival against an enemy with immense destructive power.

Naruto is a franchise spawned from the manga series penned by Masashi Kishimoto that began in 1999. Generating several tv series, games, movies, and more, Naruto follows the exploits of a young outcast ninja harboring the spirit of a demon fox who seeks to become the Hokage, the leader of his ninja village, to break the stigma against him. Upon the conclusion of the initial series, Naruto expanded into Boruto, following many series protagonists’ children and returning faces.
