This year, Paramount+ with Showtime has had some great shows, but these 10 new and returning series are the streamer’s best of 2025. Paramount+ doesn’t produce as much original content as other streaming services, like Netflix and Prime Video, but there are still plenty of bingeable shows on Paramount+. This year added a few great entries to that list, and it’s worth looking at the streamer’s best shows of 2025.

Both new and returning shows will count towards Paramount+’s “best of” list, as will a few shows that began in 2024 but finished in 2025. These shows are judged not only on their critical and popular reception and Screen Rant‘s own reviews, but also on how well they continue their stories, how entertaining they are to watch, and how they compare to the other entries. With that in mind, here’s the best of the best from this year.

    10

    Tulsa King Season 3

Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) and Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Samuel L. Jackson) sitting at a booth in Tulsa King season 3

Starting off the list of Paramount+’s best shows of 2025 is a familiar name: Tulsa King season 3, which was created by Taylor Sheridan. Tulsa King season 3 brought Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) head to head with Jeremiah Dunmire (Robert Patrick) in a gang war over a distillery. While the third season continued many of the best parts of the show that made Tulsa King such a hit, it was also a bit disappointing in some ways.

Like previous seasons, Tulsa King season 3 was a bit uneven, bloated, and a bit repetitive. Dwight and his crew didn’t change much, the show introduced a lot of plot lines without giving them enough time to end satisfyingly, and there were just as many downs as there were ups. That being said, Tulsa King season 3 was still a great show filled with action, emotion, tension, and some of Sylvester Stallone’s best acting in years.

    Yellowjackets Season 3

Though it was once a titan of Showtime’s offerings on Paramount+, the newest season of Yellowjackets fell short in a number of ways. Yellowjackets season 3 continued unraveling the secrets of the soccer team’s time in the forest and their struggles in the present day, but with much less focus and direction than in previous seasons. Unfortunately, the mystery at the heart of Yellowjackets is starting to wear thin.

Even though Yellowjackets season 3 was a marked decrease in quality for the show, the newest season was still well worth watching. With some amazing performances, more deliciously dark moments from the past, and hilariously black comedy. While it’s not always as great as it once was, Yellowjackets season 3 was still one of Showtime’s best shows of 2025.

    NCIS: Tony & Ziva

The first new Paramount+ show to make the streamer’s top 10 list isn’t actually new, it’s the NCIS spinoff show NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Tony & Ziva follows a fan-favorite couple from the original series as they reunite, begin raising their daughter together, and go on the run from a mysterious enemy across Europe. While it’s more of a conspiracy thriller than a police procedural, Tony & Ziva is a great addition to the NCIS franchise.

What makes Tony & Ziva such a great show is its blend of old and new. The show’s main actors have great chemistry, they play one of the most iconic slow-burn couples in TV history, and getting a larger focus on them is great for longtime NCIS fans. However, Tony & Ziva‘s new format, its new style, and its new setting help keep things fresh and offer a new perspective into these familiar favorites.

    1923 Season 2

Another Taylor Sheridan show to make the list is actually part of his Yellowstone franchise: 1923 season 2. In 1923 season 2, the battle for the Dutton ranch finally took place, new tragedies befell the family, and another chapter of the Dutton family’s history came to a close. While it wasn’t what everyone expected and the final season did fall short in a number of ways, 1923 season 2 was still a great sendoff to the prequel series.

1923 season 2 is probably the best Western show of 2025. Timothy Dalton’s villain, Brandon Sklenar’s hero, the epic gunfights, and the beautiful scenery of rural Montana all make sure of that. Its shortcomings, however, keep 1923 season 2 from even being the best Taylor Sheridan show released this year. Like Tulsa King, it dragged at times, made some questionable character choices, and left many viewers with a sense that it could have been better.

    Dexter: Original Sin

Another new spinoff that earned a spot on Paramount+’s best of 2025 list is Dexter: Original Sin. The prequel series explores Dexter Morgan’s early adulthood as he begins killing and starts working with his father at Miami Metro. Original Sin had the unique challenge of reviving a franchise after two separate very divisive series finales, and it more than accomplished its goal.

Why Dexter’s Spinoff Series Was Cancelled After Just 1 Season

After being renewed & canceled in a matter of months, there’s one glaring reason why Dexter: Original Sin season 2 will not be returning at Paramount.

Original Sin is a show with a great cast, an interesting murder mystery that plays out over the season, a fascinatingly morbid premise, a weirdly charismatic yet villainous anti-hero as a main character, and more. It also completely understands the appeal of the original Dexter and recreates it with a whole new cast of actors. In short, Dexter: Original Sin is both a great crime thriller and a great Dexter reboot.

    5

    School Spirits Season 2

Though it’s geared towards the youngest audience on this list, School Spirits season 2 is still one of Paramount+’s best original shows. School Spirits follows Maddie, a ghostly teenager who has to haunt her highschool and figure out why she’s in the afterlife. It’s a delightfully mysterious and suspenseful take on a high school drama, and School Spirits season 2 didn’t miss a single step in continuing its brilliant premise.

Again, School Spirits is aimed at a younger audience, but it still has so much to offer. Any fans of supernatural mysteries will love the show’s expertly written mystery, the way answers come with more questions, and all the unexpected twists Maddie has to deal with. There’s also plenty of production value and acting prowess on display in School Spirits season 2, and season 3’s upcoming release date means it can occupy your watch list for a while longer.

    4

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3

Paramount+ has taken good care of the Star Trek franchise, and there’s no better sign of that than Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3. Strange New Worlds is tied to the original series as it follows the exploits of Captain Pike and the USS Enterprise before Captain Kirk took control. The series is deeply steeped in Star Trek‘s history, and it leverages the full weight of one of the most iconic and best sci-fi franchises of all time to its benefit.

Strange New Worlds is considered by many fans to be the best Star Trek show in years, and for good reason. It recaptures the adventure and intrigue of the original series, it has the polish and visual shine of the newer shows, and it plays with the franchise’s history and timeline in a very satisfying and worthwhile way. As an added bonus, Strange New Worlds is a great starting point for newcomers to Star Trek.

    3

    MobLand

Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren on a MobLand poster

The only truly original show to make Paramount+’s best of the year list is MobLand, starring Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan. MobLand follows the Harrigan crime family as they hire a fixer to win a mob war for them while also dealing with the family problems of their rivals and themselves. Most importantly, MobLand proved that Paramount+ can tell a wholly original story just as well as it can continue franchises.

There’s a lot to love about MobLand. Its all-star cast is generally well-suited to their roles, its twisty plot focused on gang warfare is effortlessly interesting, and it has plenty of laughs in store. While it may not be the most emotionally deep or intellectually challenging, MobLand is a barrel of fun and a sign of how entertaining Paramount+ shows can be.

    Landman Season 2

Though it’s still underway, Taylor Sheridan’s Landman season 2 has already clearly earned a high spot as one of Paramount+’s best shows of the year. Landman season 2 picks up where Tommy’s story left off but dives deeper into the business side of the oil industry, the complex dynamics and generational trauma of the Norris family, and more. Landman season 2 took all the great parts of the first season and magnified them.

For the most part, Landman has also abandoned many of the faults of its debut season. The show’s story is more focused and less spread out, it’s taking full advantage of underused actors like Demi Moore and Andy Garcia, and it’s diving into the most compelling parts of its story: Tommy’s family and the high stakes of the oil industry. Landman season 1 had potential, and season 2 realized it.

    1

    Dexter: Resurrection

Dexter and Harrison Morgan walking in the street in Dexter Resurrection season 1

The best show on Paramount+ with Showtime of 2025 was a new series from a familiar franchise: Dexter: Resurrection. The Dexter sequel show picked up after the events of Dexter: New Blood and saw Michael C. Hall’s titular character reunite with his son, resume his killing career in New York City, and face off against a whole host of serial killers. Best of all, Resurrection was able to revive the magic of the original Dexter.

Everything about Dexter: Resurrection works. Hall is as effortlessly compelling in his most famous role as he was at the height of the original series, while other characters, like Harrison, are portrayed much better. All the show’s emotional stories and interpersonal conflicts are sharply written and acted, the mysteries are compelling and well-developed, and every new element builds off the classic Dexter formula brilliantly. It’s easily Paramount+‘s best show of 2025.
