Despite Assassin’s Creed Shadows being one of the best-selling games of 2025, Ubisoft has been incredibly quiet when it comes to revealing any new information for the next entry in the series. While it might not have come from an official announcement, one of the next Assassin’s Creed games has recently been confirmed to still be in development by a fairly reliable source.
As noted by COMICBOOK, in response to a fan asking if the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Jade was still in development on the official Discord for the game, a project administrator replied with a simple “yes” alongside a smiling emoji. While there isn’t much else to go on for more gameplay details or a release window yet, it does confirm that the project hasn’t been quietly canceled as some fans feared.
Assassin’s Creed Jade Is Back
Given that the project was supposed to be released 3 years ago, and we haven’t heard much of a peep from Ubisoft following its reveal and gameplay demo, it’s not hard to see why so many people were convinced the project had been secretly shelved without a word.
Thankfully, after this latest confirmation, you can rest assured that the iOS and Android-based Assassin’s Creed Jade is still on the way, letting you explore an ancient Chinese setting for the first time in a mainline Assassin’s Creed game. Even if the mobile gameplay will likely be different than the traditional Assassin’s Creed formula you’d expect, it will still have plenty of the same hallmarks that have made the series so beloved over the years.
We did get a China-based entry with Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, although its side-scrolling nature was much further from the more classic gameplay style of Assassin’s Creed Jade.
Offering both single-player and multiplayer modes for its open world experience, Assassin’s Creed Jade will focus on the Qin Dynasty era of China with plenty of inspiration from classic Wuxia stories. Even if the live-service nature of Assassin’s Creed Jade might not appeal to most users, it would still be a great way to fill the gaps between major releases if it released sooner rather than later.
We Still Have A Bit Of A Wait
Unfortunately, if you were one of the people looking forward to trying out Assassin’s Creed Jade for yourself, there will still be a bit of a wait, as several major projects in the series are currently much more likely to release beforehand. Despite initially being announced as releasing beforehand, AC Jade seems to have swapped places with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe.
Being rumored to take place in the Holy Roman Empire era of Germany, with a focus on Witch Trials, Codename Hexe could push back Assassin’s Creed Jade even further, let alone how many resources the studio is dedicated towards additional AC: Shadows updates.
From the all-but confirmed remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Codename Hexe, and the upcoming Netflix collaboration, it’s hard to tell exactly when we’ll get to experience Assassin’s Creed Jade for ourselves, although its nature as a mobile game does have better odds of being released on much shorter notice than a traditional mainline entry in the series.
