Jujutsu Kaisen regularly rules the hype cycle whenever its anime releases a new installment, with season 3 being no exception. However, one arena it has historically failed to dominate is that of licensed video games, with its arena fighter Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash being a particularly high-profile bomb. However, the incredible studio behind Naruto’s best games teases JJK’s gaming future.
Reported by Famitsu, Hiroshi Matsuyama of CyberConnect2, the developers of Naruto’s acclaimed Ultimate Ninja Storm series, is apparently teasing a Jujutsu Kaisen announcement after the season 3 premiere. Fans should be on the lookout between January 8-9, 2026, for CyberConnect2’s mysterious announcement. If they play their cards right, Naruto’s video game crown could have a worthy challenger.
CyberConnect2 CEO Teases Big Announcement After JJK Season 3 Premiere
With the studio first founded on February 16, 1996, its CEO, Matsuyama, is prepping for the company’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Matsuyama took the time to confirm plans to unveil its anniversary title to mark the occasion, but first coyly teases an announcement on January 9, 2026 out of Japan following Jujutsu Kaisen’s season 3 premiere on January 8:
“This year marks the 30th anniversary of our establishment. We’re planning a 30th anniversary celebration party on February 16, 2026. While the party is aimed at industry professionals, we’ll be announcing the ‘CyberConnect2 30th Anniversary Title’ there. I’m sure fans around the world will be happy about it.”

Notably, this announcement is still indicated to precede a bigger confirmation of the studio’s major anniversary title to be unveiled on February 16, 2026. Still, given the company’s reputation honed over decades, achieving RPG acclaim with .hack before tackling Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizzarre Adventure, and more, a Jujutsu Kaisen game would be welcome.
“The television anime Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1 will begin airing on January 8, 2026. The movie version that premiered in 2025 was a big hit, and now the continuation will finally be broadcast as a television anime, so please check it out. I’ll be watching too. Huh? Us? We have nothing to do with it. I’m just watching, that’s all. I mean, if it were January 9, there would’ve been something I could announce. But as of today, there’s nothing I can announce, so everyone, please watch the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.”
-Hiroshi Matsuyama
With that in mind, it’s best to stay tuned and keep a keen eye on CyberConnect2’s upcoming projects via its official X account. Jujutsu Kaisen may have had a troubled past so far with 2024’s Cursed Clash, but if this tease is any indication, it could finally achieve its true video game Domain Expansion.
Jujutsu Kaisen Is Perfect for the CyberConnect2 Treatment
While it might be hasty to get hopes up for a JJK arena fighter redemption arc, CyberConnect2 would certainly be the best studio to tackle it. With the manga now completely over and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo debuting fascinating new characters, abilities, and even species, it could get the true Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections treatment.
For those who haven’t enjoyed the game, or aren’t even familiar with Jujutsu Kaisen, this treatment would bring CyberConnect2’s legendary reputation for fast-paced action and breathtakingly cinematic ultimate attacks, aka “Supers”. For those who missed it, YouTuber Maximilian Dood was brought to tears by Naruto x Boruto’s stunning collection of Supers and Team Supers.
With the fights of Jujutsu Kaisen standing among Shonen Jump’s best, including clashes that can level cities and wild, imaginative powers ranging from horrific warping of bodies to match reshaped souls, to matter manipulation; it’d be an incredible fit. While other contemporary series like Demon Slayer got the CC2 treatment yet fell short, Jujutsu Kaisen may finally seize Naruto’s crown.
