In the world of glitz and glamour, maintaining a sense of normalcy can be a daunting task, especially for star kids who are born into the spotlight. Shahid Kapoor, who has been in the industry for over two decades, recently shared his perspective on why he and his wife, Mira Rajput, choose to keep their children, Misha and Zain, away from the public eye as much as possible.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Shahid talked about the complexities of growing up surrounded by fame. Shahid explained that while he appreciates the love he receives from his fans, he believes that the intensity of the spotlight is not something children should have to go through during their early years. For Shahid, the decision to shield his kids comes from a desire to provide them with a grounded upbringing.

“Fame can be overwhelming. It’s easy to lose yourself in it,” Shahid said, highlighting the psychological pressure that comes with constant public scrutiny. He mentioned that children do not have the maturity to process the attention that comes with being a celebrity’s child. By keeping them away from the cameras and the paparazzi culture, he hopes to allow them to develop their own identities without the burden of expectations or the distortion of reality that fame often brings.

Shahid further explained that the digital age has made privacy even more difficult. With social media being such an integral part of modern life, the line between public and private has blurred. Shahid expressed that he wants his children to enjoy a normal childhood, filled with simple joys rather than being treated as public property. He believes that by limiting their exposure, he is protecting their innocence.

Despite being one of the top actors in the country, Shahid has consistently maintained a boundary when it comes to his family life. While he occasionally shares glimpses of his life as a father on social media, those moments are carefully captured to ensure his children’s privacy remains intact.

During the same conversation, Shahid also shared his thoughts on his career and how his film selections have developed over time. He shared, “When I started out with Ishq Vishk, my approach to acting was much simpler. I was the quintessential romantic guy, and the roles were fairly straightforward. But with every film and every phase of life, my relationship with the craft has evolved.”

He concluded by saying, “Over time, I found myself gravitating toward characters with more depth, people with layers, contradictions, and grey zones. I enjoy diving into what drives them, what challenges them, and even what they’re trying to conceal. That internal complexity excites me far more today. Somewhere along the way, authenticity became more important to me than delivering a perfectly polished performance. I’m interested in truth, vulnerability, and the nuances that make a character feel real and that shift has completely transformed how I approach my work.”
