As the countdown begins for the theatrical release of Mardaani 3, Yash Raj Films has increased the excitement by dropping a powerful new track titled Babbar Sherni. The song is a tribute to the film’s lead, Rani Mukerji, and the indomitable spirit of women who stand tall against societal evils.
Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Abhiraj Minawala, the third part of this acclaimed franchise sees Rani Mukerji reprising her iconic role as the fearless cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy. This time, the stakes are higher than ever as she enters a brutal race against time to rescue 93 missing girls.
The newly released track, Babbar Sherni, is designed to amplify the commanding aura of Rani’s character. Composed, produced, and arranged by Sarthak Kalyani with lyrics by Shruti Shukla, the song features a gritty, hard-hitting rap segment by Dee MC. More than just a song, it is being hailed as an anthem for women who refuse to back down.
Speaking about the significance of the track, Rani Mukerji shared, “Babbar Sherni is a powerful sonic embodiment of the film’s soul. It captures the indomitable spirit of Mardaani itself and salutes women as Babbar shernis of our society. The Mardaani franchise remains India’s only successful female-led cop series. Each film has tackled real-world issues. The first film focused on the horrors of human trafficking, while the sequel explored the twisted psyche of a serial rapist. Mardaani 3 continues this tradition of socially relevant storytelling by diving into another dark and pressing societal reality.
Rani further elaborated on how the song connects to her character, saying, “More than just a promotional track, it serves as an emotional and ideological extension of the character Shivani Shivaji Roy, channelling strength, courage, and quiet rage into a rallying cry that defines what it truly means to be Mardaani.” Mardaani 3 is set to hit cinemas worldwide on January 30, 2026.
