Mariah Carey was honored as the 2026 MusicCares Person of the Year on Friday night, with an all-star tribute concert at the Los Angeles Convention Center as part of Grammy Week festivities. The lineup featured performances from Jennifer Hudson, Billy Porter, Laufey, John Legend, Kesha, Maggie Rogers, and… Foo Fighters.
Dave Grohl and co. showing up might sound like an odd inclusion on paper, but it actually tracked. For one, Pat Smear is a noted Mariah Carey superfan, and despite a broken foot that’s kept him out of several recent Foo Fighters gigs, he made a point to be there for the MusicCares performance. And while other artists handled the big pop ballads like “Always Be My Baby,” “Hero,” and “Vision of Love,” the Foos went in a different direction, teaming up with Taylor Momsen to play two songs from the unreleased ’90s grunge album Someone’s Ugly Daughter: “Hermit” and “Love Is a Scam.”
Foo Fighters, who have a new album on the way, are set to embark on a North American tour with Queens of the Stone Age this summer.
