    Newport Jazz Festival returns to Rhode Island for a 72nd edition this summer, and today, the annual event confirmed which artists will be tuning up. Highlights across this year’s lineup include Little Simz, Angine de Poitrine, Herbie Hancock, Thundercat, Gary Clark Jr., Flea and his Honora Band, Gena, Arlo Parks, and Anoushka Shankar.

    Elsewhere on the bill, Kamasi Washington, trumpeter Chief Adjuah, and others will present a show in celebration of John Coltrane and Miles Davis’ 100th birthdays. Robert Glasper is also set to perform alongside Bilal and Ari Lennox, while Jon Batiste will perform with his Jonathan Batiste Trio, which features Joe Saylor on drums and Phil Kuehn on bass.     The festival returns to its longtime home of Fort Adams State Park from July 31 through August 2. The 2025 edition hosted The Roots, De La Soul, Janelle Monáe, Jorja Smith, Esperanza Spalding, Terence Blanchard, and many more.
