With anticipation building around Antony Varghese’s upcoming action thriller Kattalan, the makers have now dropped a fresh update that has further fuelled curiosity among fans. Just a day ahead of the film’s theatrical release, the team took to social media to reveal that the movie will feature not one but three post-credit scenes.

In a statement shared on X, the makers urged viewers not to walk out as soon as the film ends. Their note read, “Important Note to the Audience: Please do not leave the theatre when the movie ends. Kattalan features three post-credit scenes, two during the title cards, and a final post-credit scene that appears only after the rolling credits are completely over. Stay till the very end. The hunt is not over yet.”

The announcement has immediately sparked speculation among moviegoers, with many wondering whether the post-credit scenes could hint at a sequel, spin-off, or a larger cinematic universe. While post-credit scenes have become increasingly common in big-scale commercial entertainers across Indian cinema, Malayalam films have only occasionally experimented with the format. The move suggests that Kattalan may be aiming for a larger franchise-style setup while retaining its grounded action-thriller tone.

Directed by debutant filmmaker Paul George, Kattalan is positioned as a gritty action drama set against the dangerous world of ivory smuggling. The film reportedly blends survival drama, high-stakes action and emotional conflict, with Antony Varghese playing a rugged protagonist caught in a violent underworld tied to wildlife crime and illegal trade.

A packed ensemble and heavy-duty action setup

Apart from Antony Varghese, the film also marks the Malayalam debut of Dushara Vijayan, who has previously earned acclaim for her performances in Tamil cinema. The cast further includes Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish, Siddique, Anson Paul, and several others in pivotal roles.

The screenplay has been jointly written by Paul George, Joby Varghese and Jero Jacob, while noted writer Unni R has penned the dialogues. The involvement of Unni R has especially drawn attention among cinephiles, given his reputation for crafting rooted, layered character writing in Malayalam cinema.

On the technical front, the film boasts a strong crew. Music for the project has been composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath and Ravi Basrur, both known for delivering pulsating background scores for large-scale action films. Cinematography is handled by Renadive, while editing is by Shameer Muhammed. The stunt choreography is overseen by internationally known action choreographer Kecha Khamphakdee, suggesting that the film’s action blocks could be one of its major highlights.

Kattalan is backed by producer Shareef Muhammed under the banner of Cubes Entertainments, the production house that previously bankrolled Marco starring Unni Mukundan. Given the scale of the promotions and the action-heavy glimpses released so far, expectations around Kattalan have steadily grown among Malayalam cinema audiences.
