Filmfare was the first to report that Ram Charan had sustained a wrist injury on the sets of Peddi and that the actor would soon undergo corrective surgery. He reportedly suffered a cartilage tear during the filming of Peddi, his most recent theatrical release.

Ram Charan to take a break

The injury occurred after a forceful landing during a shoot. Doctors advised him to undergo immediate surgery and recommended at least two months of complete rest after the procedure. However, Ram Charan chose to postpone the operation and travelled extensively to ensure Peddi reached audiences across the country. The actor actively participated in all promotional activities, including the film’s success meet held a few days ago in Hyderabad.

With the promotions now complete, the surgery is expected to take place soon. The Mega Power Star will then take a few weeks off to recover, rejuvenate, and spend quality time with his family. A foreign vacation during the break is also reportedly on the cards. Once he recovers, attention will turn towards RC17, his much-awaited reunion with Pushpa director Sukumar. The project is currently in the scripting stage.

Multiple injuries and an undying resolve

During the making of Peddi, Charan suffered multiple injuries, including an eye injury while filming intense wrestling sequences. He persevered through the physically demanding schedule without complaint. Director Buchi Babu Sana revealed that the actor underwent three to four months of wrestling training, with the team bringing in the same trainer who had worked with Aamir Khan on Dangal.

Ram Charan himself described Peddi as “the most difficult character I have played” and revealed that he spent nearly 285 days shooting the film. He also compared his conviction in Peddi to the confidence he felt while working on Magadheera, Rangasthalam, and RRR. Released last Thursday, the film has been performing well at the box office.
