Big changes are ahead for The Clyburns in The Madison season 2.
Amid the commotion surrounding the resurrection of the Yellowstone franchise with sequel spinoffs, such as Luke Grimes’ Marshals on CBS and Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Dutton Ranch on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan also launched an entirely new story in 2026 with The Madison. Boasting a fantastic ensemble led by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, it introduced the Clyburn family, whose story is more grounded. The Madison‘s narrative was kicked off with a tragedy and throughout its freshman year, it took viewers through an emotional roller-coaster journey, as they balanced their lives between New York and Montana.
Following Preston and Paul’s burial, the Clyburns returned to New York with the hopes of resuming their old lives. However, The Madison season 1 ended with Stacy finding her way back to Montana, and while the rest of her family didn’t know where she went, it set up the idea that the clan would be splitting their time between the strikingly different worlds. While The Madison season 2 has yet to have a release date, its cast is already teasing what’s next for the family.
Speaking with Deadline during the All Trails Lead Here event, Beau Garrett, who plays Stacy and Preston’s eldest daughter, Abby, shared that The Madison season 2 will be a shift from what season 1 was. With the initial shock and grief starting to wear out on them, the next step would be to figure out what’s next for their family, especially after they had a transformative time spent in Montana. “The first season was a lot of grief and upheaval. Now we’re settling into Montana in Season 2, and I think that there’s a lot that comes with that… There’s going to be stuff that comes up as time goes on.”
For context, The Madison season 2’s production has long been finished — even before the initial six-episode season 1 was released. Because of that, Garrett and the rest of the cast definitely know what’s next for the Clyburns. Beyond that, this change in storytelling also makes sense, considering the direction of the series. Coming back to New York was difficult for everyone in the family for different reasons, so it’s understandable if they are inclined to spend more time in Preston and Paul’s cabins.
Recently, there has been some confusion about when The Madison season 2 will release. Because the episodes have already been filmed, it’s possible that the Sheridan-created show returns sometime this year. That said, there have also been comments that it might not come until early 2027, which is when production for The Madison season 3 will supposedly start. Whatever the case may be, what’s clear is that people are now invested in the Clyburns’ story.
