One star of the medical drama has revealed their character will have a delayed return amid major confirmed casting differences for the forthcoming season. The Pitt season 3 will include a multitude of changes to the core lineup of doctors, students, and interns that run the ER. Now, another major casting change has been confirmed, with a very different approach for Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) going into The Pitt season 3. Speaking with Gold Derbyabout her return in season 3, Moafi confirmed that she will be coming back to the hectic Pittsburgh ER. However, her character won’t show up in the first episode, and will instead arrive later into the season. She states that some characters will arrive via “staggered entrances” throughout the season instead of all being present at once like the previous two.

I don’t know anything yet. I know that filming will start in a week. I know that I’m not going to be part of the first episode. I think I can share that. But it’s going to be like staggered entrances. I know that we’re stepping into another wild day. I think it’s around Thanksgiving, four months from Season 2. I’m as excited and enthusiastic as everyone else is to find out what’s going to happen next.
Moafi’s statement also reiterates the medical drama’s time jump following The Pitt season 2 finale, taking place four months after the events of the last season. It appears this Thanksgiving-themed season of the show will involve a number of major changes, with her character being the third confirmed to have a very different approach going forward. Although it’s unclear what her status will be amid The Pitt‘s characters upon her return, it’s clear she’s still working at the ER despite the revelation of her condition. Whether her seizures will have improved or not remains uncertain, but she’ll likely still be fit to conduct medical evaluations of patients given her continued role there. Dependent upon Robby’s mood that day, they may or may not clash about her fitness to be in the trauma center, though centering around another holiday likely means they need all hands on deck no matter what.
Al-Hashimi’s delayed appearance also aims to continue The Pitt‘s approach to medical realism.
