Project Zeta Expansion Officially Shared By Bethesda

Fallout 4 is undoubtedly a brilliant game, and one that continues to draw players back in their thousands each day, particularly thanks to the lack of a sequel in the intervening period. That said, there are many out there who have entirely explored everything that Bethesda gave us in the base game and its expansions, so they now need to look elsewhere for additional content to play.

That’s where the Creation Club can come in clutch. Bethesda’s paid mod platform is understandably controversial for charging for many of the mods it hosts, but there are still some great downloads out there that are worth your consideration, if you are happy to part with some coin. One of those in particular has drawn the attention of the developers themselves, and it’s a major piece of DLC that approaches the level of an official release. Even better, it’s totally free.

Over on Twitter/X, Bethesda shared a post highlighting Project Zeta, a creation that adds a bunch of tangible assets to the base game, as well as new enemy types and a companion to increase your social circle. In case you hadn’t realized yet, everything added in the download is inspired by the divisive, silly fun of Fallout 3’s Mothership Zeta.

In the description of the download, the developer shared the following insight about what players can expect if they decide to give it a go:

“Project Zeta is a little project we have made based on Mothership Zeta and Invaders from Beyond, This mod adds a load of new workshop constructibles, 3 new weapons (3 uniques as well), 1 new outfit, one new companion, two new enemy types as well as two new workshops. One workshop is located in the actual Zetan Observation Ship, the other is located on Mars in a special zetan habitat dome.

“At its core this mod is just a workshop pack where you can make your own fun but we also included some neat features such as workshop attacks where Zetans and Abominations will invade your workshop in the same style as Invaders from Beyond in Fallout 76.”

Heading up to a ship or even Mars to live actually seems like a more tempting option than basically anywhere in the Commonwealth itself. It’s obviously mostly meant to be fun, more than anything else, but there’s a ton of precedent for aliens in Fallout, so it’s not even as lore breaking as you might expect.

The Project Zeta Creation is only available on Xbox, and as mentioned earlier, it doesn’t even cost anything to the player. It also helps us add a little more to the experience of Fallout 4 while we wait to hear more about the sequel, which could be a long while.
