Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle has finally hit theatres. The film is the third instalment in the Welcome franchise and features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Jacqueliene Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal and several others.

However, fans couldn’t help but miss the original Welcome trio of Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar. While Welcome Back did not feature Akshay, Welcome to the Jungle is missing Kapoor and Patekar.

Now, Akshay has opened up about their absence from the franchise. Speaking to PTI, he said, “Welcome is a full family. This is Nana, Mr Anil, me and all the people. This is like family. If ‘Welcome 4’ is ever made, you will find all of them (in it).” Welcome to the Jungle is directed by Ahmed Khan. The choreographer-turned-director revealed that he remained in touch with both Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar throughout the making of the film.

He said, “We talked all the time. We used to call during the shoot (of the film). Nana had just called and asked, ‘How is it going? When will you show (the film) it to me? Tell Akshay that I am not available.’ They keep calling and they talk. Anil sir called and said, ‘How is it going? And next time we will plan something’.”
