Ryan Gosling‘s first show is getting a reboot.
Variety reports that a reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club is being ordered as a pilot for Disney+. First launched in 1955, the 1990s version featured a trope of future stars, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell, and Gosling.
The pilot has already cast its lineup of Mouseketeers. They include Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, and Brooklynn Pitts, who are part of Camp Rock 3, in addition to Erianthe Akaata (Young Rock), Scarlett London Diviney (Wicked: For Good), Michael Cash (Black Rabbit), and Elio voice actor Yonas Kibreab.
The ensemble is completed by Varonica Mitchell, Kauani, Scarlett Grace Petty, and Carter Barnes. Production on the pilot is expected to begin later this June in Los Angeles. The project is produced by Fullwell Entertainment, with Ben Winston, Ashley Edens, Emma Conway, and Dave Piendak as executive producers.
If the new Mickey Mouse Club moves forward beyond the pilot stage, it will aim to be a showcase for the young performers. Also, like previous versions of the series, music is expected to play a big role.
More to come…
