New Mistborn Handbook Is A Must-Have For Brandon Sanderson Fans

Brandon Sanderson fans can already rejoice at the release of a new Mistborn handbook set to arrive soon. The author’s iconic fantasy saga is completing its 20th anniversary this year, and there are tons of ways that it is being celebrated. For example, there’s a new Well of Ascension expansion for Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game, scheduled to be released on November 18. For those who don’t play it, there are still celebrations underway, even if in the form of remembrance.

This year, however, there will be a new option for fans of Brandon Sanderson’s saga, as the Mistborn RPG is arriving soon, and a new handbook will let you know everything there is to know about diving into a tabletop experience set in the world of Scadrial. As was reported by Saga Concepts, the Mistborn RPG is scheduled for release on November 16, 2026, and it will be accompanied by a multi-book expansion, one of which is the Mistborn RPG Handbook.

The book cover of The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson shows a woman jumping over a town with a massive sword.

The handbook for the anticipated Mistborn RPG’s release is already proving to be a phenomenal trinket for fans of the saga, even with scarce details. According to the report, the core rulebook will serve both players and Game Masters alike, featuring elements that will help with character creation, the core mechanics for the tabletop RPG, the detailed Allomancy and Feruchemy systems, and options for the two eras that compose Mistborn.

This is particularly exciting since the in-book magical systems, Allomancy and Feruchemy, will be detailed from a gameplay point of view. Surely, they are detailed and widely exemplified in some of the best Brandon Sanderson books, but TTRPGs always have a way of adding extra magic to these things. You’ll be able to use your character’s Allomancy or Feruchemy abilities in creative new ways, and possibly even learn more about them as you play, with practical experience.

Another nice detail about the handbook is how it will expand on the different Mistborn Eras, allowing for different types of characters with different types of tools at their disposal. Moreover, the Mistborn RPG will deviate from the Stormlight RPG’s high fantasy themes and dive into industrial fantasy stories. The handbook isn’t the only book being released. The World Guide will help better understand the world of Scadrial, its factions, and structures, for example, while the upcoming Mistborn: Legacy campaign book is a narrative campaign module.

This campaign will be able to run right out of the box if Game Masters don’t want to create their own story in Scadrial. This RPG will follow the same structure as the rules for the Cosmere RPG system, including the iconic Plot Dice and the fluid turn order. It’s arguably the best time to be a fan of Mistborn and Brandon Sanderson, as there has never been so much extra material to dive into beyond the books.
