Andrew Garfield is returning to the world of childhood wonder with The Magic Faraway Tree, a big-screen adaptation of Enid Blyton’s beloved fantasy classic. The actor, who plays Tim in the film, has praised writer Simon Farnaby for bringing a fresh, human quality to the story while retaining the magic of Blyton’s original world.

Speaking about Farnaby’s approach to the adaptation, Garfield said, “He’s so precise with his writing and yet so open and fluid to people making it their own. He’ll take an idea and make it a thousand times funnier and better and more human. This was the funniest script I’ve ever read, and the themes were very close to my heart: getting back in touch with nature and remembering our connection to nature.”

The Magic Faraway Tree brings Blyton’s much-loved world to cinemas for a new generation, with PVRINOX Pictures releasing the film in India on September 4, 2026. The film follows a modern family who move to the countryside, where three children discover a towering, ancient tree inhabited by a host of eccentric characters.
Every climb takes the children to a different fantastical land, turning their new surroundings into the beginning of a series of extraordinary adventures. But beneath the fantasy, the film also explores family, imagination and the importance of reconnecting with nature and one another.

Garfield leads an ensemble cast as Tim, alongside Claire Foy, Nonso Anozie as Moonface, Nicola Coughlan as Silky, Emmy and BAFTA winner Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot, Jennifer Saunders as Grandma and Rebecca Ferguson as the formidable Dame Snap.

With its combination of fantasy, humour and family adventure, The Magic Faraway Tree aims to bridge two generations of audiences, allowing parents to revisit a story they may have grown up with while introducing Blyton’s magical world to children experiencing it for the first time.
