Macklemore has made the claim that he was recently removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour. This was following some pro-Palestinian remarks he made recently during one of his concerts at New Jersey. Macklemore took to Instagram to share the news via a 12-slide carousel. He mentioned how, regardless of what they say or post, they still get to go home and be with their families. He said, “I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety, and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.”
After sharing his words, he goes on to express how there are no misunderstandings or animosity between him and Ed Sheeran. He continued, “Ed is my friend. I’ve known him for 13 years. We’ve shared late nights, studio sessions and stages. I consider him a brother.” He also clarified that none of his words were crafted out of spite.
He said, “Nothing I’m writing here is out of spite or because I want to tear down his character. But as I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can’t change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened.” He concluded the post saying “Free Palestine,” mentioning how Ed Sheeran was in a tough spot, and he couldn’t take sides. He finished the post with, “Ed was in a f**ked up position. He couldn’t get past his public facing, “I don’t take sides.” I get why people don’t”
He also expressed how he didn’t wish for this to mess with his relationship with Ed Sheeran. He added, “I hope this isn’t the end of my relationship with Ed. My door will always be open to continuing this conversation.” Mackelmore said that he wasn’t concerned if those words would cost him the stage. If these words in fact turn the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour he would have ever been on.
