The Income Tax Department conducted searches at several locations in Mumbai on Monday in connection with Bollywood actor and filmmaker-linked entities. According to reports, around 12 locations associated with actress Rakul Preet Singh, veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios are being searched.
Sources cited in reports said the tax authorities had received information regarding large sums of money allegedly being transferred abroad in connection with film-related activities. The transactions are reportedly linked to expenses claimed under overseas film shoots, international distribution and production.
The information has prompted the Income Tax Department to examine the transactions for possible tax evasion and other financial irregularities. Multiple teams have reportedly been deployed across Mumbai to conduct searches at various offices and premises connected to the entities.
The investigation is currently underway, and officials are examining financial records and transactions as part of the probe. Further details are expected to emerge once the searches and investigation are completed.
Rakul Preet Singh is married to actor and producer Jackky Bhagnani, whose father, Vashu Bhagnani, is the founder of Pooja Entertainment. The production house has been associated with several Hindi films over the years, including Coolie No. 1 (1995), Hero No. 1 (1997) and Biwi No. 1 (1999).
Meanwhile, Panorama Studios is known for backing and distributing several Hindi films, including Raid and projects from the Drishyam franchise.
Rakul Preet Singh will next be seen in one of the most anticipated films of 2026, Ramayana: Part 1, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actor will portray the character of Surpanakha in the upcoming epic.
The reported searches are part of an ongoing Income Tax investigation. At this stage, the allegations regarding overseas transactions and possible financial irregularities remain under investigation.
