The long wait is nearly over, and the very first verdict is officially in: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is creating massive seismic waves across the globe. Following an exclusive premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, initial international reactions have flooded social feeds, setting anticipation soaring. From breathless comparisons to Hollywood’s greatest fantasy sagas to glowing praise for lead stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, the magnum opus has struck a colossal chord.
Cinephiles in attendance were completely spellbound by the sheer scale of the mythological drama. One international viewer posted an emotional reaction video, saying, “There is nothing out there in the cinematic universe like what I just watched, and people can take that in a good way or a negative way. There’s just nothing like Ramayana.” Recalling high-fantasy cinema’s finest hour, he added, “I haven’t felt like this since the very first Lord of the Rings movie, which I believe came out in 2001. This movie is very grand. It’s very epic.”
Ranbir’s portrayal of Lord Ram has struck a deeply personal, spiritual nerve. Film reviewer Theresa Simoni couldn’t hold back her admiration, stating, “The actor playing Prince Raama (Ranbir Kapoor) is some serious talent, moved to tears! An unforgettable experience.” Meanwhile, Kannada powerhouse Yash is captivating audiences as the menacing antagonist. An early reaction lauded his villainous aura: “Yash as Ravana is the biggest highlight and is superb, especially in his introduction portions.”
Beyond the staggering visual effects and massive battle sequences, it is the audacious finale of Part 1 that has everyone talking. Leaving viewers desperately craving the sequel, the premiere audience member remarked, “I can’t give away spoilers, but the cliffhanger! When that movie ended, when the screen went black, I literally said, ‘No!’ I shouted out loud.”
While some early trade voices noted that the film leans heavily into action spectacle over intimate drama, the overwhelming buzz is undeniable. Bollywood’s grandest cinematic gamble has officially arrived on the world stage right now.
