Kevin Morby has shared a new Bandcamp-exclusive single called “Nursery Rhyme” featuring Lonnie Holley, with proceeds of it going toward Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the U.S. In a statement, Morby called it “far and away the darkest and most violent song I’ve ever written,” and added he intentionally released it on Bandcamp to avoid “the risk of the song popping up in any sort of algorithm or entering someone’s psyche without permission.” Listen to the song below.

Morby originally wrote “Nursery Rhyme” in the summer of 2025. Now it arrives weeks after the fatal school shooting that took place in Bend, Oregon. “It’s hard to know what else to do in a country where the powers-that-be worship inside the church of weapons of mass destruction and value profits over the lives of our children. Sometimes you just gotta scream,” Morby added.

The song comes 10 years following the release of another Morby track about violence, “Beautiful Strangers,” which addressed the Pulse nightclub shooting and the death of Freddie Gray.
