Alpha, the upcoming film from the YRF Spy Universe, has been postponed once again. The film was earlier scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, but the makers have now decided to push the release further to avoid a major box office clash.
The release of Alpha, part of the popular YRF Spy Universe, has been delayed for the second time. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that the makers have chosen to move the film from its previously announced release date of April 17, 2026. No new release date has been announced yet, but the film is now expected to hit theatres sometime in the second half of 2026.
Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), Taran Adarsh wrote, “#BreakingNews… ALPHA AVOIDS CLASH WITH BATTLE OF GALWAN – YRF TO DECIDE ON A NEW DATE… #AdityaChopra steps aside for #SalmanKhan, moving Alpha from its previously announced release date of April 17, 2026, to avoid a direct clash with #BattleOfGalwan.” He further added that YRF will announce a new date after reviewing the theatrical calendar over the next few months.

This marks the second postponement for Alpha. The film was originally planned for a Christmas 2025 release but was delayed earlier due to post-production requirements. Reports suggested that the makers needed extra time for detailed visual effects and finishing work, which led to the first shift in the release schedule.
The decision to move Alpha again is reportedly aimed at avoiding a direct box office clash with Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan, which is set to release around the same time. The move also reflects YRF’s strategy of giving its spy universe films enough breathing space to perform strongly at the box office.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the sixth film in the YRF Spy Universe, which includes blockbuster titles like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and War 2. The film was officially introduced through a post-credits’ scene in War 2 earlier this year, creating excitement among fans. Alpha stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles, with Bobby Deol playing a key character. Notably, it is YRF’s first female-led spy thriller, making it a significant addition to the franchise. Expectations remain high, despite the delay, as audiences eagerly await further updates from the makers.
