Metroid Prime 4 is finally here, and the wait was worth it. While it may not be the clear-cut best Metroid Prime entry, there’s still a lot to love here, and Metroid fans have waited for a follow-up for long enough.
While you’re exploring the game’s core planet, you’ll sport a handy vehicle called the Vi-O-La. Here’s how to access its additional features and skins.
How To Unlock All Vi-O-La (Motorcycle) Skins
You’ll Need To Use The Amiibo
To access motorcycle skins in Metroid Prime 4, you’ll need to utilize an amiibo made for the game. Specifically, you’ll need the “Samus & Vi-O-La” amiibo, which features Samus riding on the new motorcycle with her Prime 4 suit. After tapping it to the NFC touchpoint, you’ll be granted access to a slew of features, including:
- Additional Vi-O-La skins
- Vi-O-La boost enhancements (allowing you to boost constantly until you leave the Sol Valley hub)
- Vi-O-La radio (change the tracks in the Sol Valley hub)
Note that not all of the skins will be unlocked immediately. You’ll need to earn them by riding the Vi-Ol-La, which will gradually reward you with new motorcycle skins through the odometer system. Based on our playthrough, we unlocked all the skins shortly before the end of the game.

Here’s A Roundup Of What You’re Unlocking
If you’re curious whether or not all of those skins are worth the playtime, we’ve provided a full roundup of them here, as well as what they look like in the gallery above.
Here’s the full list of every skin for the Vi-O-La in Metroid Prime 4:
- Default Theme
- Samus Varia Theme
- Sylux Theme
- Metroid Prime Theme
- Space Pirate Theme
- Ancient Theme
- Psychic Era Theme
- Vi-O-La Suit Theme
Out of all the different Vi-O-La skins available in Metroid Prime 4, the Sylux theme is easily my favorite. There’s something about the color scheme and the lore implications that really make it a fun skin to wield while driving around the desert.
