India’s electronic music scene witnessed a fresh shift over the weekend as Ballantine’s Soda partnered with 101 Association to present the debut edition of the 101 Festival. Held on December 20 and 21 at A Dot by GNH Convention in Gurugram, the two-day indoor event brought together international electronic music heavyweights and Indian techno talent under one roof.

Unlike large-scale outdoor festivals that dominate the calendar, the 101 Festival focused on a more controlled indoor format. The venue was designed to highlight sound clarity, lighting, and close audience interaction, offering music lovers a different kind of live experience. Over the course of two days, the space transformed into an immersive arena filled with pulsing beats, layered visuals, and a crowd deeply tuned into the music.

The first night was headlined by Axwell, best known as a member of Swedish House Mafia. His set blended familiar house anthems with newer sounds, creating a balance between nostalgia and modern electronic music. The response from the crowd reflected his lasting influence on global dance culture, with fans engaging throughout the performance.
Day two belonged to techno artist Sara Landry, who made her India debut at the festival. Known for her intense and industrial sound, Landry delivered a high-energy set that introduced Indian audiences to a harder edge of global techno. Her performance stood out as one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend.

Supporting acts included international DJ Sam Collins and Indian techno artist Arjun Vagale, both of whom added depth to the lineup and helped maintain the festival’s momentum across both days.
Beyond the music, the festival reflected Ballantine’s Soda’s long-standing connection with music culture and self-expression. Rather than acting as a traditional sponsor, the brand’s presence felt woven into the experience, aligning with its “Stay True” philosophy that focuses on authenticity and individuality.

By combining global artists, local talent, and a focused listening environment, the festival set a new reference point for how electronic music can be experienced in the country.
