Bonnie “Prince” Billy Announces New Album We Are Together Again

Bonnie “Prince” Billy is readying his second album in as many years. We Are Together Again, due March 6 via No Quarter, was recorded in Louisville, Kentucky, with Will Oldham’s co-producer and engineer Jim Marlowe. Leading the record is “They Keep Trying to Find You,” which comes with a video choreographed and directed by Abi Elliott. In it, Oldham costumes up as a shaggy woodland monster, which—after a more nimble inhabitant seemingly swaps into the outfit—proceeds to engage a human in an elaborate dance routine.

Oldham says in a press release, “This record was made closer to the Ohio River than any I’ve been involved with since 1993’s Palace Brothers There Is No-One What Will Take Care of You. Louisville’s current-and-past vital musical community is highlighted on every song. Catherine Irwin, who sang on the BPB release Ease Down the Road, is back here on ‘Hey Little’ and ‘Vietnam Sunshine.’  Lacey Guthrie, Tory Fisher and Katie Peabody, the three front women of the band Duchess, sing together on the opening and closing songs, parallel odes to the beast that is fear.”

Oldham’s follow-up to last year’s The Purple Bird features contributions from his current tourmates, woodwind player Jacob Duncan and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Deakin, as well as Ryder McNair, Chris Bush, Ned Oldham, and Erin Hill.
