Even within the same Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 weapon class, guns can have differing strengths. Assault rifles are especially versatile, and the ideal loadout for the MXR-17 is quite a bit different from an optimal AK-27 loadout. Below you’ll find an explanation of the ideal attachments, equipment, and perks to use with the MXR-17.

Unlocked at level 16, the MXR-17 is the third assault rifle you’ll gain access to after Black Ops 7‘s launch. Coming from the AK-27, you’ll see better base stats on the MXR-17, but there are a couple of immediately noticeable pitfalls: the MXR-17 has very strong vertical recoil and a small magazine. The former can be easily compensated for, but the latter is best built around.

Best MXR-17 Attachments In Black Ops 7

The MXR-17 can be turned into a very good mid- to long-range weapon. You’ll want to stay back from the fray on Black Ops 7‘s multiplayer maps, but it’s a great general option for the 40-player Skirmish mode. Here are the optimal attachments for the MXR-17:

    • Optic: Redwell 30-S 2x or Greaves AccuSpot 3x

      • The optic you choose may be dependent on game mode – the 3x, for instance, is great for Skirmish – but it may also come down to personal preference; if the 3x impairs your ADS speed more than you’d like, go with the 2x.
    • Muzzle: Redwell-90 Compensator

      • Drastically reduces the MXR-17’s vertical recoil.
    • Barrel: 18″ Rift-M7 Barrel

      • Gives the MXR-17 a farther effective range.
    • Underbarrel: Sentry Pro Handstop

      • Reduces idle sway, increasing your accuracy when aiming at farther away targets.
    • Rear Grip: Fissure Grip

      • Improving the MXR-17’s first-shot recoil makes a big difference in how well you’re able to control its vertical recoil generally.

With these attachments, you are not going to have exceptional handling or mobility, so you won’t want to take the MXR-17 into close range if you can help it. Because of this, you want to center the rest of your loadout around staying alive and supporting your team with Scorestreaks.

Best Equipment To Use With The MXR-17 In Black Ops 7

Once you unlock it, you’ll want to use the Coda 9 pistol alongside the MXR-17. Go for attachments that control its recoil and improve its reload speed. The Coda 9 then becomes your solution to close-range enemies. If you get into a frantic fight, the MXR-17’s small magazine size won’t do you any favors, but the Coda 9 can be a potent backup. Your melee weapon has very little bearing on the loadout at large; bring whichever you’re most comfortable with.

The rest of your equipment to go along with the MXR-17 should be the following:

    • Wildcard: High Roller
    • Field Upgrade: Squad Link

    • Tactical: Stim Shot

      • Overclock: Combat Performance
    • Lethal: Point Turret

      • Overclock: Gyroscopic Stabilizer

The High Roller Wildcard and Squad Link Field Upgrade are the two most important pieces of equipment for this MXR-17 loadout. Keeping enemies at a distance can let you survive for quite a while, so you will have a lot of opportunities to earn Scorestreaks. High Roller lets you choose a fourth, while Squad Link boosts your (and your team’s) earned score.

The Tactical and Lethal slots are a bit more flexible, but I recommend these two because the Stim Shot will help keep you alive, and the Point Turret can let you know if enemies are coming from behind. Both will help you keep earning Scorestreaks, but if you feel strongly about bringing other options instead, by all means switch it up a little bit.

Best Perks To Use With The MXR-17 In Black Ops 7

With the MXR-17 and the equipment above, use these three perks:

    • Perk 1: Gearhead
    • Perk 2: Fast hands
    • Perk 3: Charge Link

Gearhead and Charge Link are taken purely to give you as many Field Upgrades as possible – you should be using the Squad Link throughout every game with the MXR-17. A bonus to Charge Link is that nearby teammates using their Field Upgrades will give you bonus score, which is yet another source of points for your four Scorestreaks.

Fast Hands goes a long way in compensating for the MXR-17’s lackluster magazine size. You’ll go through a full mag pretty quickly, but Fast Hands will help you finish off enemies before they get into cover in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
