Big ticket releases in September
After August, Tollywood has set its eyes on September releases. While Anushka Shetty-starrer Ghaati is slated to release on September 5, Teja Sajja’s Mirai too is set to hit the marquee on the same day. Although both films are in different genres, the clash at the box office seems to be exciting. Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’ Kishkindhapuri will take guard on September 12.

But the biggest film is September will be Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which is scheduled to release on September 25. This is the film that fans of the Power Star have been waiting for with bated breath. The posters, actor’s look and the visuals have already created a huge buzz. Earlier it was speculated that OG will clash with that of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film Akhanda 2: Thandavam. But according to reports, the Balakrishna-starrer backed off from the race…prompting OG to enjoy a solo release in theatres.
Tollywood pinning hopes
Tollywood is pinning hopes on September releases. So far, the year has been an ordinary one. Although it started off well with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, the industry lost its way in the middle with box office failures. With the present strike affecting films’ shooting schedules, and subsequently impacting and delaying releases, September has become a significant month for Tollywood. Apart from Telugu films, dubbed movies from Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi industries are also set to release in September, although the dates haven’t been confirmed. A couple of good hits at the box office is all Tollywood needs to breathe easy.
