One of the main reasons for Peddi postponement being the strong box office presence of Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled to release on March 19. With Ranveer Singh in the lead, Dhurandhar is expected to dominate theatres, and the Peddi team does not want to risk clashing with the spy thriller during its crucial opening period. Moreover, since Peddi is a pan-India project releasing in multiple languages, the team is being extra careful with its release strategy. A solo release window is seen as the best option to maximize collections and reach a wider audience. Sources say the makers are now exploring alternative dates where the film can get clear screens and full attention. But fans will have to wait a little longer to get clarity on when Peddi will finally hit the big screens.
Adding to this, another film that was supposed to release around the same time is Nani-starrer, The Paradise. The action thriller has reportedly moved out of the race as its shooting is yet to be completed. At the same time, the makers want a solo outing at the box office along with a ticket price hike and hence want to release at an appropriate time. These developments have essentially left the March 27 slot open for now.
Another argument among the trade circles is that Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming cop drama Ustaad Bhagat Singh has an outside chance to make it on March 27. Since Pawan almost wrapped up his part, and most of the post-production work is also done, the makers may consider arriving on March 27. But it’ll be a race against time as the makers haven’t prepared for it. The team is still in discussions, weighing all possibilities before taking a final call.
