The Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing Doctor Doom into the spotlight in Avengers: Doomsday, and five Marvel teams will line up to fight him up front. These teams have veteran lineups, like Captain America’s new Avengers team, ragtag groups of misfits like The Thunderbolts, now known as the New Avengers, and the warriors from Wakanda.
They are also joined by multiversal visitors in a version of the X-Men and The Fantastic Four, who were introduced in their own movie in 2025. However, Doctor Doom is a very powerful antagonist, and the MCU will likely try to find a way to make him even more powerful on his own than Thanos was.

The Thunderbolts* (New Avengers)
The weakest team against Doctor Doom could end up as the strongest if one thing happens. However, that one thing could also doom the Thunderbolts, as they try to keep using the New Avengers name. If Sentry uses his powers again, they would be the best bet to beat Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
However, Bob doesn’t want to be Sentry because he knows he can lose control and bring Void back out again. If he doesn’t help fight, and there is a precedent for that in Marvel Comics, the New Avengers lineup doesn’t match up. Red Guardian, Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova, U.S. Agent, and Ghost are tenacious, but they are mostly powerless next to Doom.
However, there is one danger that could make them a liability. If Doctor Doom can entice Sentry to help him, it could stack the odds even higher against the heroes. Doom is smart enough to use Bob’s insecurities against him, as Norman Osborn did in Marvel Comics. Sentry could be the turning point in this war and make the New Avengers the reason Doctor Doom wins.

The Wakandans
The Wakandans are always a threat because of how many of them there are and the fact that they were trained by the late T’Challa and his generals. The cast list shows that Shuri will be in the movie, most likely as the new Black Panther again. It also has Namor listed, and Shuri might be calling on him for help.
This means it could be the Wakandans and Namor’s kingdom fighting side by side after battling each other in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. M’Baku is also expected to return, but Okoye isn’t. Either way, if Wakanda is coming to fight, expect to see plenty of warriors joining in, but as with Avengers: Infinity War, they likely won’t be enough to stop Doctor Doom.

The Fantastic Four
The Fantastic Four might only be four people, but what keeps them stronger than the Wakandans is the sheer amount of power they possess. When Doctor Doom showed up in the post-credits of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, he was with Franklin, and the Invisible Woman walked in on them. That could be a terrible omen.
There are some theories that Doom is going to use Franklin in the same manner that he used the Molecule Man in Marvel Comics to create and maintain Battleworld. That would make Doom almost unbeatable since Franklin is one of Marvel’s most overpowered characters.
As The Fantastic Four: First Steps showed, The Invisible Woman might be the most powerful character on the team, and with good reason. If she is here to protect or retrieve her child, she could be Doom’s most dangerous enemy. Add in Reed’s brains, Johnny’s almost unlimited fire powers, and Ben’s strength, and they will be a genuine threat.
It also makes sense because The Fantastic Four are Doctor Doom’s most significant enemies in the comics, so they should be one of the biggest threats in Avengers: Doomsday.

The X-Men
The X-Men will be versions of the heroes from the Fox universe, and it will include actors from those movies. However, their power levels might vary depending on which variants appear. That is because dead heroes (Cyclops) are returning, and de-powered mutants (Mystique) will be back as well. No matter what, they will be heavy hitters in this war.
It looks like, similar to Spider-Man: No Way Home, these characters will be from a specific time period in the Fox movies before certain events happened. Based on the cast listings, this will include Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, Beast, and Gambit. Of course, with Gambit there, this could be a completely different multiversal X-Men.
Any team with Professor X and Magneto is going to be strong, as they are two of the most powerful mutants in history. It also helps to have Cyclops on the team, since he is the greatest battle tactician in Marvel Comics history, and is essential in creating a battle plan to try to stop Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.

Captain America’s Avengers
According to the latest reports, Captain America’s Avengers will include Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, Falcon, and Ant-Man. That immediately makes it the most powerful of all the teams, thanks to two specific characters. Any team with Thor on it will automatically be one that can beat anyone, anytime.
However, having Loki as part of the team is even more interesting. In the Loki series on Disney+, he gained immense powers and was the person holding the entire multiverse together and keeping it from collapsing on itself. It is assumed that Doctor Doom will find help in breaking Loki’s control so he can create Battleworld.
The team also has a great leader in Sam Wilson, who has more experience as a hero than almost anyone in the movie, other than Thor. With the mystical powers of Shang-Chi, access to the Quantum Realm by Ant-Man, and Falcon as a blunt-force weapon, this is a team that should hold its own.
The critical thing to remember here is that Doctor Doom is likely going to win, setting up Avengers: Secret Wars, so this team, along with the others, will fall. Avengers: Doomsday is looking to have a similar ending as Avengers: Infinity War, but with a much more devastating result, making this battle the first of many for the MCU heroes.
