Doomsday Return & Scarlet Witch’s MCU Future Gets Definitive Response From Elizabeth Olsen

As Avengers: Doomsday is a year out from arriving in theaters, there are still many questions about what other Marvel Cinematic Universe players may back for the team-up installment. The MCU timeline saw an alternative version of Scarlet Witch make a return through the animated Marvel Zombies TV show this year, but many audience members are still hoping to see her in live-action again.

In an interview with The Playlist, Elizabeth Olsen looked back at her time as Wanda Maximoff, while also answering whether there is still a future for her in the MCU franchise. The actor shared how “I’ve been really proud of what we’ve been able to make. Really proud,” but as far as showing up as Scarlet Witch again, she said, “But I don’t have an answer for that.”

The outlet proceeded with mentioning how the audience could imagine her taking part as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. However, Olsen stressed, “Well, I can’t. Honestly, I do wait. I want to see [her] return in this role because I think what they’ve done with her is really great, and I love the journey she’s taken.”

The MCU alum finished her response by adding, “I think it’s always a fun one to get to go back into, and I just have no idea how or when, for sure.” While production on Avengers: Doomsday wrapped in mid-September 2025, the door isn’t entirely closed yet on a potential Scarlet Witch return in the 2026 entry.

Following the Avengers: Secret Wars filming update, additional photography is reportedly set to take place in spring 2026 for Avengers: Doomsday. If she isn’t in this film, there is always the possibility that Olsen’s return could be saved for the Phase 6 finale, which arrives in 2027.

It’s also common for MCU actors to lie in interviews about whether they are involved with certain projects or not, due to the massive secrecy levels that exist at Marvel Studios. Since the Avengers: Doomsday trailer is confirmed for December 2025, it’s always possible that Wanda could be one of the many surprises that they have in store for the viewers.

Another project in The Multiverse Saga that Scarlet Witch could be making a surprise appearance in is the VisionQuest TV show, which will be the WandaVision trilogy finale. Despite her death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the dead don’t always stay dead in the MCU.

Marvel Studios has scheduled Avengers: Doomsday to open in theaters on December 18, 2026.
