Doomsday Star Confirms Their Superhero Will Debut A New Costume Design

Expect to see one of the confirmed heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to debut a fresh look in Avengers: Doomsday. 2026 will mark the penultimate year for The Multiverse Saga, as there are only a handful of projects left in Phase 6, including the next two Avengers films.

Simu Liu was recently featured in a new Empire State Building interview, where he talked about coming back to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday. The Shang-Chi star ended up confirming that his hero will have a new look, stating that, “It’s an incredible feeling, it was actually a brand new suit. So it’s a completely different suit that fit on me very differently.”

He elaborated by sharing how “I showed up to set, and I definitely was like, ‘Oh yeah, I know how to do this,’ and then I see the suit and the pieces and I’m like, ‘Oh this is not the same at all.'” Liu also gave massive praise to the whole production team.

“But it just goes to show things change, and it’s really, really special just to be able to look at yourself in the mirror, and to be wearing something like that,” he added. Liu concluded with sharing, “It’s an incredible feeling, and it will be an incredible ride when it comes out in theaters.”

Liu made his debut in the MCU timeline back in 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but has not been seen in other live-action projects for Marvel Studios since then. However, as he was revealed to be reprising the role in the Phase 6 installment, Shang-Chi will finally be crossing paths with numerous characters in the franchise.

The marketing is underway for the team-up film, as the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer confirmed Chris Evans’ return to the franchise as Steve Rogers. Three more teasers are set to be shown in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash over the next three weeks.

It’s currently unknown whether Liu’s MCU hero will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to start principal photography next summer. Anthony and Joe Russo are confirmed to direct the 2027 ensemble film, which will officially wrap up Phase 6.

The Avengers: Doomsday cast are reportedly also eying additional photography for the 2026 installment before they start on Avengers: Secret Wars. Several MCU TV shows are also slated for 2026, from Wonder Man, Daredevil: Born Again season 2, to VisionQuest.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2026.
