A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms expands the Game of Thrones universe with a more intimate and character driven story. Now Dexter Sol Ansell steps into the role of Egg. He is the sharp and loyal squire to Ser Duncan the Tall. Speaking about one of the most striking physical transformations for the role, Ansell recalls the moment he first shaved his head and how surreal the experience was.

Opening up about it, Dexter remembers having a video of the experience. He also opens up about his barber shop experience saying “At the very first go, the barber shaved it right down the middle! I was like, ‘What have I got myself into?'” The sudden shift between projects made the moment even more memorable for the actor. He recalled, “One minute, I’m about to die in The Hunger Games. The next minute, I am shaving all my hair off! It was mental.”

Beyond the shock value, Ansell explained that Egg’s shaved head is rooted firmly in the story. Meaning, it is not just for the aesthetics. “The thing is, Egg needs to shave his hair off because no spoilers or anything, but if he hadn’t shaved his hair, they are just going to bring him back to the castle. They would easily find him. No one in Westeros has hair like Egg’s,” he revealed.

As Egg journeys alongside Ser Duncan, the shaved head becomes more than a visual change. It represents the sacrifices, quick thinking and adaptability needed to survive in Westeros.
