Fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime have something big to celebrate, as the wait is finally over. After months of anticipation, TOHO Animation has finally revealed the release date for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is scheduled to release on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11 PM JST. This announcement was made with a 30-second-long commercial that also previewed the anime’s new soundtrack composed by Evan Call.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Reveals January 2026 Release Date
On Friday, December 5, 2025, TOHO Animation’s official YouTube Channel released a new 30-second-long commercial for Frieren: Beyond Journey End Season 2 anime.
While the commercial itself did not feature any new visuals and only featured clips from other promotional videos edited together, it looked gorgeous. But what made the commercial extra noteworthy was the information it unveiled.
According to the commercial, the first episode of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 is scheduled to release on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11 PM JST, on the “FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT” block, a nationwide network of 30 Nippon TV stations.
In addition to the release date, the new commercial also previewed the second season’s soundtrack composed by Evan Call. The American music composer is most known for his work on Violet Evergarden, My Happy Marriage, and Muv-Luv Alternative.
What to Expect From Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2?
As fans must recall, the anime’s first season ended with Serie proctoring the final stage of the Mage Exams. The final stage was simple. Serie would pass or fail the candidates based on her intuition. Evidently, she disliked Frieren and failed her. But fortunately, Fern managed to impress Serie and officially became a First Class Mage.
With one of the members from Frieren’s group now a First Class Mage, they could now head to the northern lands. As such, the anime’s first season ended with the group leaving the city and resuming their journey.
The anime’s second season will pick up from here and begin the Continued Northern Travels Arc. The new story arc will likely see Frieren and her friends explore new lands, meet new characters, fight more demons, and dive deeper into the demon lore.
Later, as part of The Golden Land Arc, the anime will also introduce fans to one of Demon King’s Seven Sages of Destruction, Macht. As such, fans can expect to learn more about the demon and witness Frieren and her allies fight him in different battles.
Hopefully, the anime will reveal more information about the upcoming season, such as new cast members and characters, closer to the release date.
