There’s a lot of sci-fi fan overlap between the Halo and Star Wars series, which is why it’s great to see them collide from time to time in player creations. Although that collision is rare, fans have been working hard to marry them through mods for ages.
One of the best realizations of that is currently live on Steam. It’s a massive accomplishment, and thanks to a talented team, you can now enjoy this newest crossover pretty easily.
This Is Basically Star Wars Battlefront 3
As Close As We Can Get For Now
Given the large number of game releases the Halo and Star Wars series have pumped out in the last few decades, it helps to make sense of all this. The Battlefront Pack – Reach is a mod from a team of creators that can be applied to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. It uses Halo: Reach as a base and adds a ton of new content, essentially morphing the game into something akin to Battlefront 3.
It’s also incredibly easy to install, particularly if you use the easy-access Steam page. All you need to do is get the mod through the Steam workshop, go to the find player menu, type “abyssquickk,” hit enter, and open file share, then “gametypes.” You’ll find all the Battlefront game modes under that menu.
Here are the current maps on offer, spanning the Star Wars universe across multiple forms of combat:
- Geonosis (Ground)
- Lucrehulk Prime (Space)
- Scarif (Ground)
- Tatooine (Space)
- Mos Eisley (Ground)
- Goran (Space)
- Cato Neimoidia (Space)
- Harrow (Space)
Right now, there is no way to play online, but the mod team’s Discord server is available to find people to play with. You can, however, spawn AI/Bots, which is done through the forge menu on ground maps.
Halo Fans Can Check It Out Now
It’s A Quick Download
If you’re a Halo fan, boot up Halo: The Master Chief Collection and get on this mod as soon as possible. If you’re trying to get it working, one Steam user has a great tip for folks who haven’t used any mods in MCC yet: “You need to launch the game in Easy-Anticheat off mode in order for this and any other modded maps and campaigns to be available. If you have previously opted to run in EAC mode automatically, you won’t be prompted to choose, and you’ll need to right-click the game in Steam, go to properties, and go to launch settings to reset the automatic selection.”
Strangely, Halo and Star Wars Battlefront 2 fans are at an impasse. There’s no brand-new game in sight for either franchise (other than a Halo 1 remake), so this will have to do for now.
