James Bond Movies Start Streaming on Netflix January 15th

Despite now being fully owned and controlled by Amazon MGM Studios, James Bond movies have been irregularly available on Prime Video or other streaming services in recent months. Starting January 15th, though, 26 of the iconic British spy’s cinematic adventures will begin streaming on Netflix, from the Sean Connery-starring Dr. No to the final Daniel Craig film, No Time to Die.

James Bond fans might have noticed the number 26 there: There have been 25 “official” James Bond movies since the franchise’s beginnings in 1962, produced by Eon Pictures. However, Connery also starred as Bond in 1983’s Never Say Never Again, which was based on the novel Thunderball but produced by a separate production company and distributed by Warner Bros. Additionally, in 1967 a loose adaptation of the novel Casino Royale was made as a parody of the spy movie genre, with a cast led by Peter Sellers as one of many Bonds. Never Say Never Again will be included amongst the Bonds streaming on Netflix, but it appears that only the 2006 Casino Royale (introducing Craig’s Bond) will make it to streaming.

James Bond streaming on Netflix is a move that may help build up some excitement for the future of the franchise, given that it might take until 2028 for future Bond director Denis Villeneuve’s vision to arrive in theaters.
