Ajay Devgn’s much-loved Golmaal franchise is gearing up for its fifth instalment. New reports suggest that Golmaal 5 will introduce a fresh twist to the comedy universe. The upcoming film is said to be mounted as a fantasy comedy, marking a first for the franchise. It will also introduce a female antagonist as a key plot driver.
According to sources, the makers have already locked the core male cast. Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Gopal, alongside Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu. Adding to the excitement, Sharman Joshi is also set to return. He was part of the Golmaal (2006) team, completing the much-awaited reunion of the original gang. Familiar faces like Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleskar, Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to be part of the ensemble, ensuring the franchise retains its signature humour.
An insider revealed that while the male leads are locked, the makers are still in the discussion stage for the female lead opposite Ajay Devgn. More importantly, the story has been written in a way that the primary negative character will be a woman, a departure from the earlier films where antagonists were mostly male or situational. The team is also reportedly casting for another important character. This will be a quirky gangster-type role that will add to the chaos.
Meanwhile, buzz is strong that Kareena Kapoor Khan may return to the Golmaal universe. Kareena was previously seen in Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3 and has shared a successful collaboration with director Rohit Shetty in films like Singham Returns and Singham Again. While there is no official confirmation yet, her comeback would be a major nostalgia factor for fans.
With its fantasy angle, a female villain, and a reunited original cast, Golmaal 5 promises to refresh the franchise. It is expected to stay true to its slapstick roots.
