After starring in KPop Demon Hunters earlier this year, another project with Ahn Hyo-seop is surging on Netflix. As Hyo-seop voiced Jinu in the massively successful musical, the actor is getting another win on the streaming platform with a different film.

Netflix revealed in a new official Tudum report that Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, based on the web novel, has emerged on the platform’s Top 10 Non-English movies for the week of December 1 – December 7, 2025, globally. The 2025 installment, featuring Hyo-seop as Kim Dok-ja, has surged to the #9 spot, with 1.1. million views, and 2.2 million hours viewed.

The film, which was released back on July 23, 2025, in South Korea, was directed by Kim Byung-woo, who also penned the screenplay together with Lee Jeong-min. The live-action adaptation also starred Lee Min-ho as Yoo Joong-hyuk, Chae Soo-bin as Yoo Sang-ah, Jisoo as Lee Ji-hye, Shin Seung-ho as Lee Hyun-sung, and Nana as Jung Hee-won.

According to Box Office Mojo, the Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy movie grossed $9.1 million by the time it finished its theatrical run. In a report from SBS Star in May 2025, the adaptation was produced on a $21 million budget.

However, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy got released in the US for a run, starting on August 1, 2025. On Rotten Tomatoes, it only has 9 reviews submitted, leaving it without a Critics’ Score, as critics did not respond well to the adaptation.

But on the Popcornmeter, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy has 37%, based on 250+ ratings submitted by users. The premise follows Dok-ja, the sole reader of Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse, which is depicted as an extremely unknown web novel in the story.

Things take a south turn after he finishes reading the final chapter, as he finds his reality becoming the world of Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse. For those who haven’t seen it, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy is available on Netflix.
