    Lizzo to Play Sister Rosetta Tharpe in New Movie

    Lizzo has been tapped to play Sister Rosetta Tharpe in a brand new film concerning the godmother of rock’n’roll, Deadline stories. The movie, titled Rosetta, will likely be produced by Lizzo, Kevin Beisler, Nina Yang Bongiovi, and acclaimed actor Forest Whitaker, whereas Natalie Chaidez and Kwynn Perry deal with the screenplay. Rosetta, an Amazon MGM Studios film, is in growth and doesn’t but have a director connected to it.

    Sister Rosetta Tharpe was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. On the induction ceremony, Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard led a musical tribute to Tharpe. The musician was portrayed within the Baz Luhrmann movie Elvis by Yola.

    Lizzo’s first main dramatic movie position got here in 2019’s Hustlers. The musician has been returning to the highlight within the wake of legal battles with former employees. She’s obtained two new singles—“Love in Real Life” and “Still Bad”—and plans to launch a brand new album quickly. Plus, she will likely be acting on Saturday Night Live subsequent month.
